As a child, Jonathan was very spiritually inclined and the private catholic school he attended only reinforced that belief. He received the Eucharist and was moved to have the blood and flesh of Christ in his system. When he started to question the church doctrine, he started eating his own flesh, a practice he continued into adulthood. When he married he kept his fetish hidden from his wife but eventually she discovered his dark secret. Unwilling to obtain help he slowly ate his wife until she died from her wounds. At that point in Jonathan’s life, Yakul (Satan) comes into his life to claim Jonathan as one of his followers. Jonathan resists Yakuh’s call refusing to eat any more flesh but once the devil has his hooks in you it is almost impossible to obtain freedom from his influences. Jonathan tries fighting Yakul and his minions every step of the way but the Devil has weapons in his arsenal that strike at Jonathan’s scarred soul. Mary Ann Mitchell has written a very exciting horror novel that is so scary it will force the reader to sleep with the lights on. The novel starts out like a thriller but quickly changes into the supernatural tale that fans of both genres will want to read. This refreshingly occult work is not ambrosia for the soul or faint of heart, but instead Ambrosial Flesh is for those readers who relish a frightening horror tale.

Finished this book today and it was a lot better than I was expecting. When I started the book I thought it was basically going to be like one of the slasher movies. Gross with a lot of sick shit but not much substance. But it actually had a good storyline.

Johnathon starts eating his own flesh as a young boy when he is not able to attend church and participate in Communion. He continues as he gets older because he has become fond of the taste of flesh, and as an adult even feasts on other willing participants flesh on occasion. When he falls in love and marries Cindy he puts an end to his obsession. But after a while the power of his desire for flesh overwhelms him. Shortly thereafter Satan makes an appearance and that is where the book gets interesting. We watch the battle of Jonathan's conscious as he finds Satan's actions to be deplorable and he attempts to stop him.

All in all a good read, but with several sick scenes that are not for the squeamish.
