I received this book as a promotion from Allen & Unwin publishers. It looks pretty interesting, and already my husband and daughter are hovering to see who gets to read it first!
A great fun read, I really enjoyed it!
A good fun read. I really enjoyed this one - highly recommended!
From back cover:
'Alfred Kropp is trying to survive high school when his guardian uncle ropes him into a suspicious get-rich-quick scheme: stealing Excalibur, the legendary sword of King Arthur. But having successfully retrieved it our unlikely hero, Alfred, unwittingly delivers the all-powerful weapon into the wrong hands. Events unfurl and, with his only surviving relative brutally murdered before his very eyes, Alfred not only has a very important mission to complete but also a certain score to settle. So with an ancient order of knights in hot cars, thugs on motorcycles and a mysterious international organisation following his every lumbering step, Alfred undertakes a modern-day quest to save the world from imminent destruction.'

Loaned from my TBR pile by AndyApe who has his head buried in it at the moment!
I predict there will be a sequel! I also discovered that the movie rights to The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp were recently sold to Warner Brothers Pictures and Akiva Goldsman, producer of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and screenwriter for The Da Vinci Code.
I found the book slow to get into but once I persevered, found it an easy and enjoyable read. I think this will be popular with teenage boys.

Caught today. It looks like something I could get my head around at the moment, although as it's a ray I might leave it for a moment or two before I pick it up. Thanks, Frangipani08. Uh, I just read your comment about being popular with teenage boys. Oh me, I have to deal with that category all the time professionally. Perhaps I can claim it as professional development!
I'm really looking forward to reading this and it may be this weeend,
Over two years it took me to get to this. I enjoyed if for a while, and then lost interest. I'll make it available for those who may appreciate it.
