Journal Entry 1 by randomelement from Lynn, Massachusetts USA on Thursday, December 22, 2005
Disworld is my favorite Home Away From Home. My boyfriend likes to joke that I have a summer home and weekend retreat there. :-) This is the first book of the series and it is an introduction to Rincewind the Wizzard, the hapless, magicless wizard, who an amazing ability to survive anything. Poor Rincewind winds up as a guide to Two Flower, the Disc's very first tourist. Life is never that simple for Rincewind and they are off on an adventure that Two Flower hoped for and that Rincewind would never have taken part of if he had been given a choice. Unlike most discworld books the very next book in the series (The Light Fantastic) picks up exactly where this book ends so I recommend reading both books back to back. I am sending The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic out on a Ray together. Below is a list of those participating in the Ray. When you receive the audio books please make a note that they have been received. Then when you are done PM the next person on the list for their address and send it to them. Journal any thoughts you have about the book. If you are not able to listen to the books in a timely fashion let me know and I can readd you to the list at a later point. Periodically I will add new names. If interest ever runs out than the last person with the book is free to do what they want with it. There are 11 cd's and the envelope weighs a little over 9 oz. Have fun being a tourist in Discworld. If you enjoy these books check out my other discworld Rays at http://www.seasidelingerie.com/rays and PM if you want to be added. Kecia

Journal Entry 5 by randomelement from Lynn, Massachusetts USA on Sunday, April 09, 2006
Well the books were missing for a little while but they just showed up in my mail box. After sleone mailed them to Phantene they disappeared for a bit before they were sent back to me in MA. The person who had them did not journal them so that part of the journey will remain a mystery. I am PMing the next person on the ray list. TC, Kecia Take Care, Kecia

It has been a long while since I read this book, and it's surprising to see how much the Discworld, the characters and the book's style has changed. Thanks randomelement for sharing.

Journal Entry 16 by Caterinaanna from Coventry, West Midlands United Kingdom on Tuesday, April 15, 2008
Much better this time round than the first time: when I read this before, I considered it far and away the weakest of the novels - and that was why it took me several attempts to get into it. However this time I enjoyed it much more - maybe because I am familiar with the Disc and its inhabitants, maybe because of Nigel Planer's reading, who knows. I have to confess by being a little frustrated while listening, particularly to the first disc, because after a while they started to skip then stick. Investigation has shown that this seems to be the fault of my car stereo - once it gets too warm these discs get a little too floppy for it, but I can backtrack on the next journey while the machine is cool and the same bit plays perfectly (at least disc 2 onwards do, with disc 1 I was assuming it was the disc's fault). As it took a while to discover this I read some of this using a bound copy from chunniemonster (4860228). Since the in-car version was a complete reading, it was always easy to find my place. :o) Will PM Glitterlover for an address and aim to post out soon.
