From the back:
In an atmosphere of moral evil and seething political passion, the mysterious Mr. Norris seemed to personify all of the madness of Berlin. And Bradshaw, the young Englishman, appeared as an innocent abroad in a vice-ridden society...

Secret clubs, wild parties and the strangest friends were all part of Mr. Norris' peculiar existence...

Caught up in a web of deceit and treachery, Bradshaw is forced to make a decision that will affect his whole life.

This book is part of the "Berlin Stories", and it has moved from my To Read Pile to the To Cross Pile and back, several times. At last I decided to pick it up, for my ABC Challenge, and because I've read some good things about this book. The setting is interesting, pre-WWII Berlin, and the book is on several 'homosexual reading lists', which made me curious. The book looks like a cheap 'pulp'.

It was a fast read. It's not that special, except for the setting and the mysterious mr. Norris, who is a fascinating character. The homosexual content was only vaguely: we suspect several men are gay but get no prove. There also aren't many 'wild parties', so don't believe the cover :)
Most interesting was the upcoming of the Marxists and the Nazis. Because of that, the book gets the rate I gave it.

One of Mopperhond's 900 English pocket books.
