Medical drama from 1955, in which Dr Carter faces a dillema: If he saved this woman's life, her testimony might ruin him.

Slaughter himself worked as a surgeon and served in the US medical corps during WWII.

Somewhat predictable, but a pleasant read. The characters and storyline are well written, even though the genre dictates the progress of the story.

Upon reading this book, the glue decided 50 years of sticking was enough, so now this book is held together with sellotape and some luck. It is possible it will not survive another reader.
