Across the Nightingale Floor (Tales of the Otori S.)

This book came to me as a surprise. First in a series this is the first Japan based science fantasy I have come across. Well written and intriguing, I really would love to visit Japan and see a Nightingale Floor.
As I finally managed to get the third of the trilogy, I decided to re-read the first in the series. Don't think I enjoyed it as much this time but it was a good enough read.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Ah! the best laid plans of mice and men. This book has been released as part of the BC Monopoly Challenge, my turn and the theme was squares.
Bear with me.... Nightingales and squares? There was a song some years back called A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley square.
I went prepared with a square wooden frame and chalk to draw a representation of a parquet floor. But the day I chose to make the release, it turned out that London experienced a day of heavy rain and thunderstorms and I could do nothing but leave the book under the shelter of a big tree on the gate entrance to the park. If you look closely at the picture you can see that included in the bag are a sqare BC keyring, a square BC lapel badge and a CD I burnt of two versions of the song in question.

Picked this up on the fence around Berkeley Square... not sure I will have time to read it, but may just put it back out very soon..
