"Nancy Kington, an heiress fleeing an arranged marriage, and Minerva Sharpe, a runaway plantation slave, both find unlikely salvation on the pirate ship Deliverance. Life as a pirate is difficult enough, but can the two young women escape the cruel Captain Bartholome, who has pledged to follow them over the seven seas? And will Nancy's long-lost friend, a sailor in the Royal Navy, love the pirate she has become?"

I am currently halfway through this book and I am simply unable to put it down! I love it so far and can't wait to find out what happens to Nancy and Minerva next!

I finished this book a while ago and I have finally found time to journal it. To put it simply: I loved it! I loved the adventure, suspence, and it even had a bit of romance. Great read. I would definetly recommend it. I mean, who can say they have never fantasized about being a pirate? LOL.

Received this in today's mail. Thank you, sunshinedreamr, for the adorable handmade gift!! (I won't spoil it for the others!) My daughters loved it too and thought it would be great to make some for their friends. Back to the book, this looks really good. I have a few book rings in front of it, but will get to it as soon as possible. Thanks!

UPDATE: 03/15/06 - finally getting to this one after long last. My apologies for being so slow! I started it last night and got caught up in it right away.

Wow, I loved this book! I've always been fascinated with pirates. This book certainly contained lots of action and adventure.

Thanks, sunshinedreamr, for sharing this, and especially for the 3-month time allowance. Between going overseas and working 70+ work weeks, my reading time was drastically challenged! I probably could have finished this in a day or two if I would have had the time.

Mailed to KarenBC on 04/12/06.

Thanks sunshinedremr for the gift! I was away from home for a week, and it made my day to open up the mail box last night and find this book waiting for me. I've read one other book by Celia Rees, she's quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I'm already part way through the book, so will be contacting Morgaine77 for a mailing address to keep the ray moving along.

...couldn't put the book down...no housework was done, no laundry or ironing, no weeding the strawberry beds...but it WAS an excellant story! Will be sending it off to Morgaine77 this week.

Journal Entry 8 by Morgaine77 from Münchenstein, Baselland Switzerland on Friday, June 16, 2006
The book arrived safely in Switzerland! Thanks for sending KarenBC and thanks for sharing and the cute surprise, sunshinedreamr! I have an aweful lot of Bookrings here with me at the moment, so the Pirates have to wait a bit...

Yo Ho, Yo Ho a pirates life for me... and a bottle of rum! ;-)

What an awesome book! I love Celia Rees' way of writing, it's very lively, it makes you believe you're in the middle of the story, standing aboard the ship! Very well researched, too!
I would have loved to read more about William and how it ended with him... But she left it to the imagination... Oh well...

I read this book at a great time, more pirates coming to the movies, soon! Arrrgh! (the thought alone makes me drooling all over Orlando... wasn't his character at "Pirates of the Carribean" called William, too? Yummy...)

Anyways, I already got the next readers' address and this book will set sail very soon!

RELEASE NOTES:

The Pirates have set sail towards the UK!

Journal Entry 11 by WelshHelen from Ponthenri, Wales United Kingdom on Monday, July 24, 2006
Arrived safely over the weekend. Thank you Morgaine77. Thank goodness for the 3 months reading time (though I won't take that long) as I have 4 ring books ahead of this one - oops!

Journal Entry 12 by WelshHelen from Ponthenri, Wales United Kingdom on Wednesday, September 27, 2006
What a brilliant book! I love Celia Rees' writing style and the way she brings characters, places and situations to life. I'd never heard of Maroons before but a couple of days after reading about them in this book, a TV programme on athlete Colin Jackson mentioned that he's descended from Maroons!

This may be a book for teens but there's more than enough in it for adults, too. I'm keeping an eye out now for more Celia Rees books, having read and thoroughly enjoyed Witch Child as well.

Thank you so much for sharing, sunshinedreamr, for the little present and for allowing 3 months reading-time :-) I have bilbi's address and will post in on in the next few days.

Will definitely be posted to bilbi 29/09/06.
