Book cover blurb: On the world called Hyperion, beyond the law of Hegemony of Man, there waits the creature called the Shrike. There are those who worship it. There are those who fear it. And there are those who have vowed to destroy it. In the Valley of the Time Tombs, where huge, brooding structures move backward through time, the Shrike waits for them all. On the eve of Armageddon with the entire galaxy at war, seven pilgrims set forth on a final voyage to Hyperion seeking the answers to the unsolved riddles of their lives. Each carries a desperate hope -- and a terrible secret. And one may hold the fate of humanity in his hands.
First of four novels that have an odd connection to the poetry of John Keats. Fabulous work -- literate, dense, beautiful imagery and well-realized characters. Hugo Award winner, and well-deserved.

Promised to brewski as part of my "Celebrate 800" project.
Thanks you, thank you, thank you so much! avanta7 is the most ultra-generous bookcrosser I have had the pleasure to cross paths with. Not only did avanta7 offer me this book as a RABCK for reaching 800 books registered, avanta7 went and sent me the entire Hyperion series! Wow! I can't wait to read this book and its followers in the series and passing them all along in the spirit that I received them.
Wow, I wish I had read this earlier instead of leaving it on my TBR shelf for so long. This was really really good! The incredibly detailed imagery really transports you to the various locales in the novel. I can't wait to continue reading the other books in this series right away!
I have this all packaged up and ready to mail as a surprise to a fellow BookCrosser.
Received in a package with all of Simmons Hyperion/Endymion set. This is very nice of brewski to send them.
