The cover on my edition is different, perhaps material inside is also...one could hope. Not to issue a scathing criticism of another artist's endeavors, let me say, this work is hardly a serious novel. Euphamistically speaking, it uses colloquial language to present a popular tone. It contains all of the standard requirements for a monster story...sort of like Buffy, but not. The back cover reads as follows:
"'You don't volunteer for slugfests with vampires. It shortens your life expectancy.' And you don't fall in love with a werewolf. It interferes with your work. Especially when you're a preternatural expert, like me. My business brings me up close and personal with all shapes and sizes of monsters. And not all of them want to kill me..." ect.

So, you may be asking, why am I setting this particular specimen free in the wild? Good question. I'm half-hoping it finds the empty side of a trash can. But that's a matter of taste, I realize. And perhaps there is someone out there who loves this sort of stuff, and I suspect such people exist, because Ms. Hamilton is published. I am not. Ahem.
And I did spend an hour reading it. (I'm glad we're anonymous.)
And if you agree with me...hey misery loves company.

This isn't the type of book I enjoy, so I won't rate it. I'm going to put it somewhere it might find a reader who enjoys this type of novel.
