from amazon:
This title describes how the United States Air Force recruited, trained and then chose the few who would undertake the most demanding and dangerous jobs in WWII. These were the boys turned pilots, bombardiers, navigators and gunners of the B24s, who suffered 50 per cent casualties.

Fairly interesting book on the airmen of the 741st Bomb Squadron from their early lives, training and wartime experiences. The book is rather repetitive at times when it tends to be a list of missions. I would have liked a little more about the men, especially what happened to them after the war. By the same author as Band of Brothers, but not as good.

Happy Bookcrossing!

I enjoyed the book but, i have to say, not as much as some of the other Ambrose books that I have read. Perhaps it was the subject matter but I didn't feel that I "cared" about these men as much - and that is Ambrose's great talent to bring the men alive and make you care about them.

Nonetheless a book well worth reading and recommended (8 isn't a bad rating after all...)
