A cute story and a Newbery Honor Book. The "tall tale" aspects of it remind me a little of the Homer Price/Centerberg of Robert McCloskey..which I've always enjoyed. (original journal entry)Oddly enough, I thought the cover of my copy showed the silver "Newbery Honor" medal but the ALA website says this was the winner for 1991. Also the 1996 Nēnē Award Winner. |
