Song of the Bones : A Chantalene Mystery

This is the second book in a new mystery series. The story takes place in a small town in Oklahoma, where Chantalene Morrell runs her own small farm while working as an assistant to the local attorney.
When a woman who’s been like a mother to her – and the story of Chantalene’s mother is the first book in the series, “Perhaps She’ll Die” – asks her and the attorney, Drew, to find long-lost husband, everyone is plunged into mysterious danger.
There appear to be two dangers following Chantalene, but Preston ties the two separate story lines together very neatly. If you read the hardback, I recommend that you NOT read the dust jacket before you read the book. It goes a little too deeply into the story.
This book was the winner of the Oklahoma Book Award for Fiction and the 2004 Mary Higgins Clark Mystery Award.
