Journal Entry 3 by cloggy from London , Greater London United Kingdom on Thursday, March 09, 2006
Patrick Parker's progress has been slow, but he has finally turned up in London. Such a nice looking book, can't wait to read it. I'm a big fan of Mavis Cheek and I love the way she manages to write completely different books all the time. I'm interested to see what this one's like

I disliked Patrick Parker intensely. The character that is, not the book. The book I liked. And you're not supposed to like him anyway. Mavis Cheek has based her book around a unlikeable character and how the people in his life start to see him for what he really is. This is not an easy exercise but Cheek has managed to pull it off by creating in Aubrey a character you really feel for. You might not agree with her life choices, but at least you understand them. I've got Nikel27's addy and the book will make more progress (excuse the pun) tomorrow.
