from amazon:
This novel tells two parallel stories: one of three eccentric Englishmen who set sail for Tasmania to find the garden of Eden; the other of a young Tasmanian aborigine and his tribe, struggling against the invading British, who prove as lethal in their good intentions as in their cruelty.
i read this for a reading group i run, and to my astonishment i was the only person who liked it. in fact, i was the only person to finish it!
i thought it was a wonderful book, mixing fact and fiction so well. i loved having the story told through so many different points of view.

Snagged at the Chertsey meet - everyone there assured me it's a great read so I shall look forward to reading this one. I was attracted to the book in the first place as I have a friend in Tasmania but the praise heaped on the book ensured I had to take it with me :)
