The Autobiography of Santa Claus .... here's one for all you non-believers! Did you know that he was originally a priest? That he left toys on many different days, not just December 24th? That he believes that the birth of Jesus Christ is what Christmas is all about? No? Well how about the "fact" that he traveled around with Attilla the Hun, Leonardo da Vinci, Arthur of Camelot? What about the "fact" that Amelia Earhart lives at the North Pole (she really didn't disappear on a flight) along with Teddy Rosevelt?

A very entertaining yarn that follows history since his birth in Lycia (now Turkey) in 280 A.D. and culminating to present day. Sure to get you thinking .... maybe I do believe!

Thanks, lginder, for sending this book along. This is my first official bookcrossing trade. I'll be reading this book as the December selection for a reading group so I'll make another entry once I read it.

I love the Mt. TBR "business card" that came along with it. Such fun!

I just finished up this book for the December read of an online book group. I don't think that I was in the mood for it. I didn't really enjoy the mix of legend and history that wound throughout the story.

Truthfully, though, I think that I could have really enjoyed it at a different point; I was just not that into that approach.

I'm sending this on as a rabck. Hopefully, there will be time to read it before Christmas; if not, there's always next year!

I thought this was an ingenious idea. The story of Santa and the history of Saint Nicholas. But in addition, the author started about 300 years after the birth of Christ to the present and used history and historical people to help tell the story of Santa Claus and how he came to be. I actually learned things reading this book. Not just about Santa Claus, but about history too. Guinn uses a “mix of scholarship, fantasy, folklore and faith to answer all the questions one would have about Santa Claus. I am going to keep this book and read it again. And then save it for my children when they are old enough to read it. Everyone needs to be reminded of Santa Claus and the wonderful art of giving in a world of war and turmoil.
