Dead Until Dark (Southern Vampire Mysteries)
2 journalers for this copy...
From the back cover:
"Sookie Stackhouse is a small-time cocktail waitress in small-town Louisiana. She's quiet, keeps to herself, and doesn't get out much. Not because she's not pretty. She is. It's just that, well, Sookie has this sort of "disability". She can read minds. And that doesn't make her too dateable. And then along comes Bill. He's tall, dark, handsome-and Sookie can't hear a word he's thinking. He's exactly the type of guy she's been waiting for all her life....
But Bill has a disability of his own: He's a vampire with a bad reputation. He hangs with a seriously creepy crowd, all suspected of-big surprise-murder. And when one of Sookie's coworkers is killed, she fears she's next...."
A nice little read. I had almost forgotten, how much I like vampire stories. After reading the first 4 of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, I had had enough of vampires for a while.
But this "Southern Vampire Novel" has a different twist. More down to earth, as much as vampires can be down to earth... A nice little detective story with a touch of eroticism in between every now and then. Entertaining! I like Sookie and can't wait to see, how she and all the other characters are going to develop in the next books. The next 3 are already ordered from Amazon.
Book #34 in 2005, published in 2001, 260 pages (Total for this year 12,993 pages).
This was part of a bookring, but the original book was lost on the way to me. I finally bought this copy. The ring organiser didn't replky to my p.m.s, so I'll just work my way down the original list, to see who might still want it...
