Journal Entry 1 by ariesgirl29 from Cordova, Tennessee USA on Thursday, November 03, 2005
"From Booklist It's a plot torn from the pages of TV Guide: six overweight women live in a house of temptations and compete to see who loses the most weight. But it's far more satisfying than your average prime-time fare. The main character, Kat, always believed that life begins when you're thin. When her best friend, Donna, reads about a casting call for "From Fat to Fabulous," Kat decides she has nothing to lose but her belly. Of course, fame comes with a price. The tabloids dub her "Kat the Brat," and the show's surprise guest, her online boyfriend, dumps her on national television. Not to despair, however; Kat's story does have a happy ending. Edwards addresses image issues with wit and candor, and what's most refreshing is that losing weight doesn't make Kat's life perfect. Fans of Jennifer Weiner's realistic female protagonists will find a new favorite here."

I enjoyed this one......I am a fan of reality tv, and being a big girl (though I'm not quite big enough to be on the show) this really was a refreshing chick lit for me. RES for chick lit swap

Thank You ryanread for sending so quickly! I never win the books I wanted the most in swaps, this is a special treat! I promise to pass on quickly... ;) Ok, the book arrived yesterday and I have already finished it. I couldn't put it down after I picked it up. I am big girl and curvy enough to be on the show. lol! At first I winced at every stereotype Kat threw out. Her terribly low self esteem was tough to read. I thought in the first chapter that I was going to hate it. Then I realized that I am a couple yrs older and had felt exactly the same things as Kat at that time of my life. For some reason feeling scared to leave the mall with the Lane Bryant bag was a tough zinger for me and close to my heart. I thought the reality show was a fresh idea for chick lit. Sometimes completely juvenile and the excersing portion could have been better described. Though, the way the characters were written so that Alicia was the devil, and all the girls had traditional 'fat girl' roles was very realistic. Though it was strange how they had one woman consistently blame her son, that was weird and not believable. The ending was fun and I enjoyed the ride. I hope Edwards writes more 'Chubby Lit'. It was a fresh read in light fiction.

I was planning to release it in Scotland but my daughter also wanted to read it so it is back to The Netherlands now. Thanks for sharing! Update: March 19: Offered this book in the Chick Lit Swap on bookobsessed and I must admit It was hard cause I loved this book, but I want others to read it too. bluecat07 from Germany was the lucky thief ;) that ended up with it.
