Four strangers meet in a Greek taverna high above the small village of Aghia Anna. From Ireland, America, Germany and England, they have each left their homes and their old lives, when a shocking tragedy throws them unexpectedly together.

Fiona is trying to make her family understand her need to follow her own path. Thomas desperately misses his young son and fears his ex-wife will come between them. Elsa abandoned a successful career, but someone from her past refuses to let her go. And, shy, quiet David is determined to make a stand against his overbearing father.

Nights of Rain and Stars is the story of one summer and four people, each with a life in turmoil. With the help of Vonni, and Irish woman who lives in the village and is now a near-native, they find solutions - though not necessarily the ones they anticipated....

I quite enjoyed this book. It's different to Maeve Binchy's other books in that it is set in Greece and not Ireland.
The descriptions of the locations sound beautiful and make you want to visit.
An easy read with a happy ending - an ideal holiday read or something light when you don't want the brain taxed too much.

sent out to Frangipani04 yesterday.
I hope you enjoy this pleasant little book as much as i did.
Usual ring rules apply - journal when received, what you thought when read, and again when on its travels.
I look forward to seeing the comments everyone makes.

The book arrived yesterday!

As soon as I finish the book I am currently reading, I'll get on this one. I'm really looking forward reading it!

Thanks TracyR! (the book comes with a very nice and useful surprise for each one of us, I guess - thanks!)

It was my first Maeve Binchy book, so I can't compare this book with others by the same author. My general impression is that this book was a very nice surprise. I agree that it is a light reading. It is easy to understand and feel very close to the main characters. It is one of those books that makes you wish very much for a happy ending (one part of me wanted the ending to be even happier than it was, but that would make it a doubtful quality soup opera argument, I admit!!).

Very nice book. It also had the enourmous quality of making me feel I was in holiday on a beautiful Greek island! I wish...

I'm looking forward to read more books by this author!

On its way to Summerbreeze in Canada.

I just got this in the mail yesterday. I am so excited, however, I am finishing one ring and have a second one to start before I can jump into this one. I hope to be finished the others in two weeks and get started and finish within a month. So I apologize ahead of time if I am holding things up.

What a beautiful unexpected day...I woke up, had nothing to do, didn't feel like going anywhere, and neither did my husband. We spent 4 hours doing nothing but read. I started and finished this book in one day (I feel so relaxed and stress free aaahhh)

Anyway, what a great book....I wish I could just pack up everything and take off to a remote place and have more days like today...where there are no responsibilities, no phones, emails, etc to bother you. I would do anything to have an open ended ticket where I can wake up, think about my problems, talk about them and then one day decide I can go home and face them again. It seems much better than taking a two week vacation..because you know your ticket expires soon and you have to go home no matter what. At least these four people had the luxury of figuring out life and then go and face it.

I do feel bad for poor David though...I wonder if he will figure out his life like the others?

On to the next person in line.

Sorry for keeping this book on TBR for so long.
I finally started it last night and will pass it on ASAP.
There is only 1 person after me, so I hope I didn't cause any inconvenience.

Finally finished the book last night.

It was filled with clichées to the brim and some parts annoyed me a bit (not being very believable), but I kept reading until the (happy) end.

I sent the book off to Finland today.

28.7. This arrived in mail today, thank you Allbookedup! I recently moved (second time in 3 months), so I have a few rings before I get into this one.

27.9. I finished the book last night. It was light to read indeed, but I enjoyed it. It did give something to think about as well though not in a very deep way, e.g. about making people you love and live with to change. Sometimes you need to read a book like this with a happy ending despite of the clichées so, that it makes you feel a bit better, a bit more content.

28.9. Mailed to Kera.

Journal Entry 14 by TracyR on Thursday, October 5, 2006
Returned safely home to me.
Thanks to everyone who took part in this ring.
