A Murderous Yarn

I bought "The Murderous Yarn" at the Southestern Animal Fiber Fair because I like mysteries and I like fibers. I've heard of this series, based on a needlework shop called "Crewel World," for several years. I liked the characters, the bad guys as well as the good guys. I was more interested in the needlework activities and antique cars than the mystery, which seems a minor "thread" in the novel.
I favor the idea of, "If you put a gun on the wall, you should fire it before the end of the book." The extensive, miscellaneous descriptions of places and objects sidetracked me, maybe on purpose.
It's not a great mystery, but it's OK. For anybody who does needlework, there's a pattern of a wheel and axle at the end of the book.

I bought this book along with several other Monica Ferris mysteries from an ebay seller. When I'm finished the book I plan on donating it to the on-line chapter of the Emboriderers' Guild of America where I hope someone will choose it as a doorprize and will enjoy giving it another read.
