A superb book, which is neither the moralist tract you'd expect from hearing a synopsis, nor the glorification of decadence that some of Wilde's contemporaries made it out to be. Dorian Gray is a complex being, neither all good nor all evil, who falls in with bad companions and would turn out like many a high-society scoundrel - if it weren't for the fact that through all of life's ravages, his innocent face remains unchanged. Meanwhile, in his attic, a portrait of Dorian slowly changes appearance...
