I got this as an unexpected gift from Lorik; thank you! The wit and wisdom sections are interesting, with the two sisters looking back over a century of experience at what has changed, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. But the most interesting section, for me, was the introduction, which chronicles the path these sisters took through poverty to advanced degrees at Columbia University - one in education, the other in dentistry. Oh yes, and the fact that they got to wander around Harlem in the 1920s and 30s with the likes of Langston Hughes, Duke Ellington, and W.E.B Dubois!

"We know that phones can come in handy. We've heard of folks having telephones in their cars, in case they get a flat tire. That seems smart. But it's so much nicer to get a letter. ... But even a letter can't compare to a visit. If you really care about someone, you want to see them, spend a little time together."
