I needed a light, funny read and this was it! While Dave's stupid-boy antics got a bit annoying in the middle section of the book (just where is he getting the money to jet off to New York etc.?! And wouldn't anyone else have called the bet off long ago?), it picked up again towards the end, when the end of the quest was in sight and Danny (and even the long-suffering Hanne) seemed to click with it and help bring it all to a close. From the bemused to the equally nutty, DG and sidekick Danny meet a pretty good range of people given that they are all called Dave Gorman, and the awareness of what a daft project it really is gives the book an underlying tone which makes it readable.

I probably need to read Googlewhack Adventure now, although I realise it may be yet another stupid boy project...

Thanks again!

This book is being pressed into service to replace a disintegrating copy of the same book on a ring (that I had forgotten I had signed up for...).

This journal shows the ring that this book has been put on to. Please see silverstarry's entry on that journal for the running order etc.

Off to bookwormnicky tomorrow.

Received and read already! Sorry it has taken a while to log the book but I have been on my hols! I did enjoy this although I found it a little tedious in places. My partner is just finishing the book off at the moment and I have e-mailed the next person on the list! Just waiting for a reply now.

Lovely book, I really like Danny Wallace's other books. Great holiday read. Long live stupid boy projects!

Received in the post today, thanks very much Lolly. I look forward to reading this and will get to it as soon as I finish my other ring.

I just finished this book and I loved it!
It was so funny all the way through and the dual-authorship worked really well, with the often-contrasting viewpoints of Dave and Danny. I felt so sorry for poor Hanne, although I think she handled the situation very well!
I now wish I had seen the TV series!

No joy trying to contact Ladyveg, so under instructions from Silverstarry, I have skipped her and PMed the next in the ring. Hopefully this will get the book moving again.

Thank you so much for sending this to me! I have to be honest, I didn't realize it was a bookring book until just now. My hearty apologies, and can someone tell me who gets it next? I'll send it out right away. [Never mind, I did find the order.]

This book is a "true story about two friends, a drunken bet, a 25,000 mile journey -- and a lot of people named Dave Gorman."

I liked this book better than "Yes Man" by the same author. This book is naturally funny; it doesn't seem as if he's trying too hard to be clever. The story rolls along a bit better too, and it's a quick read despite being close to 400 pages.

oh, boy! Received this a couple of weeks ago. I've been offline for a bit and didn't realize this was a ring. I'll get right to it this weekend!

It's alive!! I was not intrigued enough to finish the book and so it's been sitting on my shelf. I've heard back from the next person in the ring and so it's on its way. Finally, huh?

Received in the mail today. Yippee! I love Danny Wallace and I hope to enjoy Dave Gorman as well.

This one is a trip. I did at times have difficulty imagining two adults being able to just flit around the world looking for Dave "Gormen," and at times I was a little jealous of them. Overall, these guys had me laughing out loud a lot.

I was fascinated by the fact that all the other Dave Gormen were so willing to meet with Dave and Danny, welcome them into their homes, visit with them, etc. I'm not sure how receptive I'd be if someone contacted me out of the blue just because we shared a name. I think it's a testament to the fact that most people in this world are just nice folks.

I'll continue to look for books by these authors. I love their "Englishness" and their joie de vivre!

As an aside, if you enjoyed this one and have not read it, you should definitely check out Yes Man, by Danny Wallace. It's another "stupid boy project" but I found it to be thought-provoking and, of course, hilarious.

I have PMed LarkOnapost for an address to move this one along.

OK. LarkOnapost already has a copy of this book so does not need to be included in this ring. I'm a bit confused with the different copies/rings for this book. Can someone clarify where the book should go next? Who is the official originator of the ring? Or is it a ray? Help!
