Journal Entry 1 by Random-Poet from Edinburgh, Scotland United Kingdom on Monday, October 17, 2005
A beautiful book, looks brand new even though I bought it very cheaply in a second hand shop. A collection of haiku, each haiku on its own page. These are all nice seasonal observations, mostly of the natural world. Some of them offer very striking images, but none of them for me really capture that elusive haiku moment, the insight that is deeper than just the observation. The ones that come closest are: monsoon rains the carp, open-mouthed leap out of the pond. the ruined temple torn apart / held together by the roots of trees. the oystercatcher's cry - cold loneliness the far north.

Journal Entry 4 by laprofe from Sevilla, Sevilla Spain on Monday, March 13, 2006
I've read it in two or three goes, and it needs more careful attention. I agree with random-poet, many of them are merely descriptive but without any hint of a feeling or insight. I doubt I will ever release it, although it is available for borrowing locally.
