This book is on the move and will be sent with the movers from Kaiserslautern, Germany to our new location near Washington, D.C.

The movers will take all of our possessions sometime in July or August and we will get access to them again when we get settled and unpacked in our new house in October or November. This book will be marked as traveling until I get the chance to get all my books out on bookshelves and make new journal entries that will change the status to something more suitable.

One of my favorite features of BookCrossing is the opportunity to track books where ever they may go. We just moved from Waldorf, MD to Bolling Air Force Base in Washington D.C. and it is time to update each book's location and make sure that we have located each book after the move.

I am trying to set the status of all my books to be correct at this time.

Permanent Collection (PC) means that I plan to keep this book for the foreseeable future.

Available (AVL) means that I have read the book or don't desire to read the book and it is ready to move on in some fashion.

To Be Read (TBR) means that I plan to read it (at least someday) and after I read it I will decide what to do with it.

I reserve the right to change my mind at any time!

From the back cover:

For four years, Patrick had often wondered how it would feel if they caught him. Now he was terror-stricken. Practically naked and strapped down like an animal, he knew the next few hours would be insufferable....

Once he was a well-liked, well-paid young partner in a thriving Mississippi law firm. Then Patrick Lanigan stole ninety million dollars from his own firm - and ran for his life. For four years, he evaded men who were rich, powerful, and would stop at nothing to find him. Then, inevitably, on the edge of the Brazilian jungle, they finally tracked him down.

Now Patrick is coming home. And in the Mississippi city where it all began, an extraordinary trial is about to begin. As prosecutors circle like sharks, as Patrick's lover prays for his deliverance and his former partners wait for their revenge, another story is about to emerge. Because Patrick Lanigan, the most reviled white-collar criminal of his time, knows something that no one else in the world knows.

He knows the truth....

This is nearly the last of the John Grisham books that I have not already read. No real reason that this one ended up near the end it was just the luck of the draw. I am glad that I really liked this one.

This book is one that isn't completely obvious what is going on at the beginning. The suspense builds as it leads up to Patrick's capture. Then we are witness to the horrible things that he endures as they try to find the vast fortune he has stolen and hidden away.

The court case is interesting as the reader realizes it is never really going to trial. Then there is the realization that the money was ill-gotten all the way around and that nothing is what it seems.

I think this is the saddest ending I have come across in a John Grisham book. Patrick has been through so much and my heart went out to him as he is finally a free man no longer looking over his shoulder and yet his future is not one that is secure and happy as he had planned.
