BOOKS!

We're putting this box together for a trip around the country! Hope we get a lot of participants. Remember: the books should be paperbacks (making it more cost efficient to mail) and should be for readers from about 9 to 13 years old!!!!

Posted to the Wish List forum, the Bookrings forum, and the Parents and Educators forum. Also PMed book crossers who had particular books on their wish lists that indicated middle school readers might be in their household.

When it started its journey, the box included these books:

I'm Not Who You Think I Am
Everything You Need to Know: The Answer Book for School Survival
In The Year of The Boar and Jackie Robinson by Bette Bao Lord
Raptor by Paul Zindel
Out Of The Dust by Karen Hesse
WORLD'S DUMBEST CROOKS and Other Tales of Bloopers, Blotches & Blunders
Stuart Little by E.B. White
Holes by Louis Sachar

Got the box today..honestly not too much in it that grabbed legomeister - we lost our copy of Harriet the Spy so he's taking that. Spooky Kids is staying here too. We're Jewish so the Christian books didn't work for us :-(
I'm going to take out some of the duplicates just to get some variety in the box - I might donate them to my son's classroom library where they're sure to get some action.
Will PM doveilibri when I've got the box ready to send back.

I'm so glad this box made the full trip.

(Guinaveve journaling on behalf of Jsport, Jsissy, and myself)

We were all excited to have this arrive today. We have already gone through it and made our choices and replaced the books that we removed. We will be mailing this along on May 1, in 3 days, when I will be going to the post office.

Just a note- Only 8 of the 13 books that came in the box were listed in the paper journal. I went ahead and added the other 5 that were missing from the list. Hope that is okay.

RELEASE NOTES:

Releasing to Dové i Libri's Fun & Adventure Box.

Journal Entry 16 by guinaveve from Mason, Ohio USA on Monday, May 5, 2008
This came back to me today in the mail. It wasn't returned, it was mailed to me instead of the person it was supposed to be. I took it back to the post office. The guy there couldn't figure it out, so he lightly crossed off my return address so it could still be read if needed, but wouldn't be accidentally picked up by the auto scanner. So it is off again, hopefully soon to be at the next destination.

Journal Entry 17 by NomiJo from Scarsdale, New York USA on Tuesday, June 3, 2008
Thank you guinaveve and DoveiLibri for letting me particpate in this bookbos. I have been most remiss in not getting it registered sooner, but I hope to have it on its way in the next day or so. And another journal entry then. Thanks.

Journal Entry 18 by NomiJo from Scarsdale, New York USA on Monday, June 16, 2008
The bookbox left here on Friday to travel to Scout-Finch. I really enjoyed getting to read a few new books in this genre, and my daughter, and possibly later my son, will enjoy them too.

Thanks all!

Journal Entry 19 by SCOUT-FINCH from Sherman Oaks, California USA on Wednesday, June 25, 2008
It's here!I think we'll be taking out one book and putting in two to add a little for the older-skewing box recipients...stay tuned!

(embarrassed)Update 9/13 - I owe everybody an apology - this box went AWOL because my clean-freak husband stashed it away in a closet which was clearly not my BookCloset where I would have found it long ago - time went by and I plum forgot about it until the kind and gentle Doveilibri inquired as to its whereabouts and I tore the house apart, eventually finding it. At the exact time my son was out of school sick for a week. Well, I'm adding a few "bonus" books and taping it up to go out Monday.

Journal Entry 20 by wingelizardbreathwing from Bella Vista, Arkansas USA on Friday, September 26, 2008
I received this box a few days ago and just sent it on to cbostler today. I took out a few and added quite a few. The journal that goes with the box has somehow been lost so if anyone has it, please mail it home to doveilibri. Thanks and thanks doveilibri for letting me play! ;)

Journal Entry 21 by cbostler from Sandy, Utah USA on Monday, October 6, 2008
I received the Fun and Adventure Shoebox Bookbox today. It has a nice assortment of interesting books for older children. The reading levels are too difficult for my second grade students, Oakcrest-Eagles, but I have plans for some of the books in the box. I'll make my selections this week and report online.
Thanks!

Journal Entry 22 by cbostler from Sandy, Utah USA on Wednesday, October 8, 2008
I am taking three books that were registered by Doveilibri and will be sending them to 4libros. She has a Halloween release planned. I'm adding three of my favorite books for older children, Holes by Louis Sachar, and Hatchet and Brian's Winter by Gary Paulsen.

Doveilibri, as far as I can tell, all the books that were in the box when you mailed it to the first participant have been exchanged. You can look forward to a shoebox full of great new books. Thanks for asking me to participate.
cbostler

The books will be hand-delivered to Paulsbooks on Saturday.

Journal Entry 23 by tostle from Salt Lake City, Utah USA on Monday, October 13, 2008

Whoo-Hoo! This bookbox arrived home today! Laughing, because it's the SAME box that started this journey, just a little bit worn for the wear! Thank you everyone for participating, we have some new and interesting books here, that I am eager to find new homes for ... they will be traveling soon! Hope you all had fun!
