Another excellent Cadfael mystery. I own the full set. I'm in a rush to release this before our Booklette today, so I'll write a better review shortly.

The cover is slightly damaged, I'll see if I can clean it up a little.

Another one of Peters' wonderful Cadfael novels - I agree that all the ends are tied off neatly, 3Jane, but this is very much the case in most murder mysteries.

Ermina Hugonin and her younger brother Yves have fled from the sacking of Worcester, accompanied by a nun. However, they all disappear en route...

I like the pace of these novels - life goes slower, the seasons have a bigger impact on daily life, things are simpler (and often harsher). Human nature, though, remains much the same, with greed, cruelty, and love as present as ever.

I suspect the young women in Peters' novels are a tad more emancipated than they would have been in the 12th century, but it's an appealing alteration for modern audiences.

From AussieNisi at Weston Booklette, with thanks. For the TBR shelf for now, as I have to catch up on books I got last Christmas, and the Christmas before that...

Very readable, but way too neat. Not a loose end to be found by the end of it and despite negotiating with hostages... well I won't say if it works out well in the end.

This book spent two weeks on holiday with a toddler, and it now only has five out of seven of the various Bookcrossing stickers and stamps it had on it when I got it from AussieNisi. (It could be worse. She is gleefully pulling all the tape out of a Pinocchio cassette while I write.) However, all the important pages are still intact, including the map, which is really helpful.
