This is by far one of the best books i've read (the others being duncton quest and duncton found!). Duncton wood begins the trilogy brilliantly and sets the scene with a story of great fantasy and romance and laying the foundations for the other two.

Recieved this this morning :) will get stuck into it right away
Journal Entry 5 by Charlieboots76 from Ringwood, Hampshire United Kingdom on Friday, October 14, 2005
Well i finished this book in record time, it was so gripping. Just when you thought the story might end along comes another twist. I must get my hands on the others in the series now, although I think I might read a few books in between as it was a very long and involved book.
I recieved efs300's address this morning (after a 5 day pm delay!)and will be posting it on to him later today.

This big book arrived safe and sound yesterday in New Hampshire, USA. Thanks Charlieboots76 for the 'English goodies'. I started reading last night.

Just finished this very good book. A very different setting and cast of characters but extremely well written and made me just keep wanting to read more. So I look forward to the rest of the books in the series. I have Qantaqa's address and will get this book in the mail along with the nice wooden bookmark included by Charlieboots76 sometime this week. Thanks to -JAFFA- for sharing.

Mailed this book this morning off to Qantaqa. And it was an interesting trip to the post office, I arrived 10 minutes before it opened, sitting there reading a book of course, when I heard this loud metallic crash. In the parking lot next door about 500 feet away from me a small airplane crashed and exploded, here is a link to the story. A little to close for comfort! US Customs label# LC580664209US in case it gets lost.
The book was waiting for me when I came home from my Christmas holidays today - funnily, it arrived at the same time as Duncton Quest (the 2nd book in the series?). Thanks a lot for sending and for the ring - I'll try to be quick.
I just wanted to let you know that I'm already reading the book and that I enjoy it a lot. I'm about halfway through and hope to be finished by next week...
I've finally finished this book and have to say, it was really amazing! I'd never have thought that a story about moles could be so gripping :).
The words that come to mind when I try to say what I didn't like about Duncton Wood are "too much" - too much detail, too many stories within the story, too many twists and turns. It felt as if the author tried to write several books at once. Nonetheless, I was very entertained and am looking forward to reading the sequel (though I'll have to read a few other books in between).

The book is here! thank you Qantaga and -Jaffa- for sharing.
Foolishly I thought that these were going to be three thin books. No idea what gave me that impression to be honest, so I was a little surprised to find a 700 pager in the post this morning :-)
But 'a clash of good and evil in the savage kingdom of moles', as the front says, has got to be an interesting read. Oh, and did I mention I am on holiday next week? Absolutely perfect timing. Looking forward to it.

I feel really bad for saying this, but I didn't get on with this book at all. It is a pure failure of my imagination, but whenever I read what Bracken was up to, all that got in my head was: 'But moles surely don't do things like that!' The last straw for me was when they travelled to find a mole to teach them how to fight.
I can't explain why I felt like this. I know that if Bracken and Rebecca had been some sort of alien creature living on a different planet, I would have enjoyed the book. I just couldn't get past the mole thing.
I'm sending it on to Luintaurien today. I'm sure her imagination will surpass mine.
