Synopsis
According to her own moral calculations, Katie Carr has earned her affair. She's a doctor, and doctors are decent people, and her husband David is the "Angriest Man" in Holloway. When David suddenly becomes good, Katie's sums no longer add up, and she is forced to ask herself some questions.

I've really enjoyed all of Nick Hornbys books but wasn't as impressed with this one. I didn't like the character of Katie at all and the last sentence of the book made me angry. Still, there were some good parts and it's worth a read.

Very poor from Hornby. I loved Fever Pitch and High Fidelity and when I started this I was intrigued as Hornby writes from a female perspective for a change.

But this was a big disappointment. David was a sanctimonius man who annoyed me more as the book went on and the idea that people should stay together for the children is one I am very much opposed to through personal experience. The last paragraph seemed almost hopeful, attempting to go someway to redeem the book, but Hornby ruined it with the last line.
