One of the few advantages of having a cold is that it's a good excuse to lie in bed reading books instead of doing more useful things with your weekend - and with all the cool books I was given by wombles, plus the ones I picked up at the convention, I've been spoilt for choice this weekend! Makes the sore throat and snotty nose almost worth it... almost.
I loved the way Tomorrow, When the War Began explored such big issues for a book aimed at teenagers, and this sequel ups the ante even more, the characters being forced to confront life and death in a very real way. I like the way these books aren't just a Boys Own style adventure: the teenagers have to confront the consequences (both emotional and practical) of their actions, and face hard choices. But there's always those glimmers of humanity - I'm sure any booklover could relate to the fact that when they're raiding houses for food one of the boys also grabs a few paperbacks :-)

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
13/5/06 - Yippee! Managed to get this book! Thank you SO much futurecat! I promise I will read it soon and send you the next two in the series.
16/5/06 - Started reading today! :) Just trying to remember some of the things they are referring to in the first chapter from the previous book!
22/5/06 - Ohhh! I love a good sequel, and this wasn't too bad. Not as many big sequences as the prequel but a fun, relaxing read nonetheless.
7/6/06 - Offered to alkaline-kiwi until 12/6/06
29/6/06 -
RELEASE NOTES:
Released in the correct location on the library shelves. Because this book is so far into the series, I felt that a truly "wild" release will be inappropriate. Only a person who WANTS this book will find it.
