I watched and loved Jamie's Kitchen when it was on TV this year, and it looks like there's some interest recipes in this book. Quite apart from the recipes though, I enjoyed flicking through this book just for Jamie's comments.

Thanks for the book Alecto! I'll be handing this straight over to my husband who is the chef in this house. He's always wanted to check out a Jamie Oliver book, and now he gets the chance. So thanks again!

6 out of 10

Comments from my husband: "I thought it would read more like a cookbook but there is a lot of personal stories in it. I'm sure someone else would enjoy that, but I'm the sort of person who just wants to get stuck into the recipes, I don't care about the history of it all. As for the recipes themselves, they are really good and I have tried a few. Like I said before I wish there were more recipes and less chit chat ... but that's just me!"

excellent little book!
I've had a flip through this and can see quite a few recipes to work through with our jnr BCer who is becoming every future woman's dream in the kitchen - Jamie Oliver has been inspiring him for quite a while now. Also becoming more adventureous in his eating as well so that's even better. thanks for sharing this book. We'll cook up a few storms before passing it on via the Warrandyte OBCZ.

loxinsox and I cooked up "Good old steak and Guinness Pie" tonight - minus the guiness, I'm afraid (substituted a good slosh of red instead). turned out very nice.
We have our eye on the Fruit Cobbler for tomorrow night. It looks just like a recipe mum used to make when we were kids in Canada -- yummy comfort food.=)

I'm so happy!!! The cobbler recipe IS just like what Mum used to make. We cooked it up last weekend. I haven't had anything like it in decades. I think we are ready to let this go now. We've copied lots of them down. Many, many thanks for restoring an old favourite to my repetoire.

I was inspired by some of the recipes and made versions of them. Have to admit that I didn't do any of them by the book since I was too lazy to change them to decigram, kilogram and such.

I just brought this home from the Turku BC meeting. I POUNCED on it as soon as I saw it! Didn't give anybody else a chance - I wanted this book! Thanks, Intry, and all the others who've passed this book along.

I enjoy watching Jamie on tv, and thought I'd like this book more than I did. For modern British casual cookbooks, I still like Nigel Slater best (Real Fast Food).

I might copy down one or two of these before I pass it on, but browsing through I didn't find anything that I wanted to cook THIS WEEK, if you know what I mean. But thanks for passing this along - I enjoyed having the chance to look at it. I'm going to offer it now in the Everybook VBB on bookobsessed.

EDIT: Nobody went for this in the VBB. I'll probably wild-release it in the kitchen next time we rent a holiday home.

"Sweep-ity-doo-dah!" refers to sweepstakes or ... I'm totally confused ...
