These poems paint vivid pictures of life for German settlers and native Americans. The stories Erdrich tells are fascinating and the characters are interesting. However, I feel that many of the poems are quite prosaic and I would rather have read short stories featuring these characters. I prefer Erdrich's novels.

It was my dad who found the book at the airport in MIlan 3 years ago, when I was coming back from the US, I never saw it....yesterday, cleaning up the house, he showed me the book and I read about bookcrossing...he doesn't speak English so he never understood what it was.....Now I will read the book and after that I'll leave it somewhere in the world....it has stayed here for too long...it's time for it to find a new home....I was glad to read about bookcrossing yesterday (I had never heard of it before)and I am glad my dad found it!
