This book had me laughing aloud--so much so that I woke my husband when I was reading in bed at night! The author is a professional comedian and is also on Oxygen's 'Girls Behaving Badly' (though I've never seen this show--I'm going to have to check it out now).

Basically it's about her collection of encounters with men, successful and not so successful, and it's just all hilarious. She drinks and parties and gets wild and crazy and reminds me of my younger days! LOL! I recommend this--it's a fun book.

I haven't been able to bring myself to watch Girls Behaving Badly because Melissa from the New Orleans Real World cast annoys me. This book was hilarious though - Chelsea Handler shares stories about her one night stands. She is only two years younger than I am, so a lot of her pop culture references reminded me of my childhood/teen years.

I must agree that this was a very funny book and spoke millions to me from the past, but I wouldn't have chosen it from the book shelf without it being offered as a ring.

It arrived yesterday - thanks very much. I already started it, and it's very readable. (Slightly smoky-smelling, though, but no big deal.)

2-28-06 - I finished this and mailed it off to Australia a few days ago. I found the author very funny and full of witty pungent remarks, and I liked the fact that she so frankly enjoyed sex. I guess I'm just a prude at heart, though, because I found the book distasteful overall. Much of this stuff had to be exagerated for comic effect. (Maybe I'm just a little leery of the description "memoir" in this post-Frey era.) She seemed so mean-spirited toward so many of the characters and it was disappointing that she admitted by the end her goal was, after all, to find a guy and get married.

I screwed up; I forgot to pay for the delivery confirmation. Darn it, sorry. I also only paid for the slow boat service, so it might be a couple of months before it makes it to Australia.

We interrupt this bookring to bring you the following announcement!

The Chelsea Handler Show will premiere on E! this month. If you are in the Los Angeles area, you can get tickets to view the tapings by going here!

The show will begin airing on April 21st at 10:30pm. Info from the press release:
The Chelsea Handler Show is an inventive collection of pre-taped spoofs, film shorts and field remote pieces shot from Handler's unique point of view, all framed by stand-up segments that feature her performing before a live studio audience. Like a human truth-seeking missile, Handler intermixes fearlessly honest comedy, ironic riffs and self deprecation, satirizing everything from reality TV to one-night stands, Hugh Hefner, and her own futile attempts to interview celebrities such as Jake Gyllenhaal.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled bookring!

About to be sent to Karyn Alyssa.

This was a funny, funny read. I found myself giggling on public transport. I have to wonder how much of this is true, though i fear it all might be!

Received today with a bunch, no a lot, no a ton of bookmarks as well as postcards. I am sure they will be put in use, Lizzie ! Thanks SilverStarry for sharing this book. I have another ring before that one, but I hope to start that one next week.

Journal Entry 18 by KarinAlyssa on Thursday, July 20, 2006
This was a super quick read ! I started after supper and it was finished before I went to bed and I had the time to watch some TV ! I guess it was quirky, but I wasn't so sure about the "fun" part of it. For me, it was irresponsability, fear of commitment and of course, fear of herself that made her do what she did. There was no fun in it IMHO, but I could see that she is a great comedian and that people must be laughing when she's on stage ! I'll try to catch her when she comes to Montreal.

Thanks SilverStarry for sharing it through this ring ! It was mailed today to KarenLea.

Received on 1-8-07 and finished in the wee hours of this morning. I love Chelsea Handler. She was always my favorite on Oxygen's "Girls Behaving Badly," and I'm a huge fan of her new show on E!, which is a combination of stand-up and sketch comedy. Fun, fun book. I'm so glad I found this ring.

Will PM silverstarry today for her address.
