I've been reading these stories in my lunch break, and wow, have they dated. I found most of them depressing, as I remember a time when families operated like this very clearly, but had managed to put most of it behind me. Thankfully the family and friends I have are a lot better than the cahracters in these stories. A very thought provoking read.

This is going on a book ray! Participants so far: IoJima (France) PussInBooks (UK) The usual rules apply - please journal the book when you receive it and again when you've read it, and if there's someone on the list after you try not to keep it for more than a month or so.

Journal Entry 10 by Iojima from Nyons, Rhône-Alpes France on Wednesday, June 20, 2007
Excellent writing about relationships between men and women in the 60's and early 70's, but the theme of oppressive, abusive male and stoic woman began to annoy me after the third story and I stopped reading. Weldon's first couple of marriages must have been hell. PussInBooks wants to be skipped, so ray ends here.
