Journal Entry 4 by Aramena from Moore, Oklahoma USA on Monday, March 10, 2003
I love Olivia Goldsmith, but I had trouble getting into this one. Maybe because there are so many characters who's stories interweave, in the beginning it just seemed like too much. I was also turned off by the constant name dropping of different publishing companies and authors, as well as some movie stars, mentioned one after the other, but once the stories had been set up and the need to explain to readers how publishing works had passed, there wasn't quite as much of that. At one point I even considered moving on to another book, but I stuck it out and once I got to know some of the characters and feel sympathetic to them I began to enjoy the stories more. I do wonder how realistic a look at the big bad publishing world this really is! Paperbac, 668 pages.
