This was a fun book, a nice light contemporary romance. The early part of it was like watching a train wreck. I couldn't believe all the stuff Becky was doing and it made me cringe, but I couldn't stop reading! Of course, I could identify with a large part of it. I am a shopaholic of a different sort, not into designer clothes and all but more nickel and diming myself into debt at places like Big Lots, Dollar Tree, and the used bookstore of course! But that feeling of hopelessness and not being able to see a way out of debt is familiar, unfortunately.
Also unfortunately, I am unlikely to have the fabulous run of luck Becky had, what with becoming a TV star and having a millionaire fall in love with her. But that's what makes it a fairy tale...
I liked Becky's imagination, the way she would go off in her mind and envision the future if a certain event went the right way for her (maybe she would meet one of the pop singers and he would ask her out and they would fall in love and become an item in the tabloids, etc.). It's fun to think like that but at times she was so imaginative she was unrealistic, as when she thought she would win the lottery.
Anyway, this was a lot of fun. The one thing that bugs me about it, and I'm not really sure why, isn't even part of the story. It's the little blurb about the author on the back that assures us she is very frugal and has a good relationship with her bank manager. It's like that takes all the fun out of the fact that she wrote this story about someone who is completely opposite...As I said, not sure why that bugged me.
I'll PM valentina1209 right now for an address to keep this moving. Thank you, Breeze144, for sharing the book (and also for the bookmark and tea).

arrived today - I have 2 other bookring books ahead of it, but I will get this read and moving very quickly!

It's funny how I keep gravitating towards these Shopaholic books when I always feel so exasperated by Rebecca's irresponsibility. She lives in a perpetual state of denial and has lost touch with reality, yet things always seem to work out for her in the end. Not very believable! However, the books are brilliantly written and flow so nicely. The characterizations are very impeccibly drawn and the dialogue is hilarious! As much as I wanted to be impatient towards Rebecca, I couldn't help cheering for her and admiring her for being so creative.
A highly entertaining story!

Just got this today - perfect timing for my holiday trip! I look forward to starting it soon, I have one other ahead of it.
I have been looking forward to starting this series, but I have to say I was disappointed by it. I'm so much of a saver that I don't think I'll be able to properly enjoy the series! But thanks so much for sharing!
Sending off to uofigirl 1/18/06.

Received this in the mail... on-deck on Mt. TBR.
Cute and sweet, and a very fast read. Nothing like reliving that cycle of financial denial that I remember in my early 20s, although not this bad.
Arrived today. I have a couple of ring books to read before it but will get ito it very soon.
A very enjoyable read, even if I did feel like shaking Becky numerous times for her naivete and stupidity! I found myself liking her, though, and really enjoyed the scenes in the TV studio and the ending :-) I'm looking forward to reading more of these books.
kbudgie has asked to be skipped. I have keksi2's address and will post to her on Monday. Thanks to Breeze144 for sharing.

This was the perfect book for my daily commute, and I had to stop myself from laughing out loud several times :-)
