Raises very interesting questions based on ancient maps. "Received Wisdom" usually inhibits valid discussion. I have simlar notions about the Biblical yarn about Noah's Ark. Lots of clerical mumbo jumbo. Progress happens when religion is faced with difficult truths. I have a collection of paper backs some of which I love but haven't read for decades. Maybe I should set them free?
