The Shop on Blossom Street

Just picked up at Target to read before getting the sequel in a bookring.
I really, really wanted to love this book. It's set in a yarn shop, what could be better? But it's just not written that well. It's like Macomber plugged in a formula. And the ending is far too pat - everyone gets a happy ending but you don't see the gradual change that leads to it, it just happens. The style is very romance-novel, but not even good romance-novel. Hopefully, someone else will love it more.
Sending this out on a ray. Here's the order!

I finished this book almost two weeks ago and just realized as I was getting ready to send it off to the next person on the list that I never came back and journalled it when I was finished - SORRY :(
I enjoyed this book. It was a lesson life about not pre-judging others.
I loved the way the author used life circumstances to bring 4 women together, each with their own agenda and issues, to benefit each other.
I am eager to read the next continuation - A Good Yarn :)

What a wonderful book! It has that warm fuzzy sweater feel to it. I read it while tying to avoid grading papers. It was supposed to be my 10 minute break book but I got sucked in and read it in about 4 hours give or take. I think I may have to find the follow-up novel, A Good Yarn. ... I also have come to the conclusion that I really should learn to knit.
Thank you for sharing.

Arrived in the mail tonight. I have to finish the book I am currently reading and then this one is next.
This was a nice light read which was just what I needed. I enjoyed the story and how the 4 very different women connected and formed a friendship. I did think it was a little obvious where it was going though.
I will send this out as soon as I have an address.

arrived in the post today, looking forward to it.
An interesting story that probably isn't what I should be reading the day I go in for the results of my annual checkup.
After several bouts with Brain Cancer and after losing her father Lydia decides to open her own wool shop. When she starts a knitting class little does she know that this is the start of some friendships that will change the lives of the women involved forever.
Pretty typical romance novel stuff.
Going to bring it to the Stitch'n'Bitch IE next meetup I make it to.

Got from SnB. Liked the knitting shop setting. Pretty adequately captured some of the obsessions of knitters (of whom I am one). Bit formulaic...threads of different lives...bonded together in close friendship...enter crisis...then happy endings all around. All said, though, a fairly entertaining read. Will take it to my Argentine friend, who's also a knitter and ask her to read it and pass it along on her holidays in Italy (or was it Spain?). CSM
