This is the first Kat Colorado mystery. I bought this book a long time ago, somewhere in the USA. I like Kat Colorado a lot, she's tough and tender at the same time, I guess, she would be good as a friend.
Kat Colorado - the real one, not me - is an exbartender and works as a P.I. in Sacramento/CA. Her best friend Charity Collins, an agony aunt for a newspaper, needs her help. Her husband has taken 200'000 dollars out of their common funds, all there was actually and is missing, presumably in Las Vegas.
Kat follows Sam Collins to the city of glitter and glimmer into a rat's nest of sleazy real estate deals, heavy hitting mobsters and contract killings. She doesn't back off, even when her searchings put her own live at danger.

I can't believe you are sharing your favorite Kat Colorado book with me! I'm so pleased to have one of these books -- and especially your favorite -- to know how you really got your name! I feel very special to have something so dear to you from your own collection. I will take very good care of it! And now I have something to read on the plane home! (did you feel sorry for me when I told you I was leaving all the books I brought here, and had nothing for the trip home?!)
It was so nice to see you not once, but twice this visit (and hopefully silentmiaouw can come down and make it three times!). It was such a treat for me to get to see you when I felt as if I already knew you -- and now I feel that we are great friends :) You have made this trip richer by being a part of it, my friend.
. . . and now to make sure this book has a passport for the trip back!

(This journal entry written on the plane to Charleston, so the tenses might be confusing!)
I'm taking this book with me to the Charleston UnCon, because I think that's a great place to pass on this special book, and also because it will go to another BookCrosser.
All of the attendees were asked, if they wanted, to bring a "local gift" from their home area to go into a grab bag for the Friday night activity. For my local gift, I'm taking a small string backpack with "Coors" on it. Coors is based in Colorado and makes beer. It's not good beer, but they sell a lot, and of course, are known for using fresh mountain spring water in their beer :) Inside the bag are two boxes of Celestial Seasonings tea, which is also made here in Colorado. Come to visit me, and I'll take you on the free tour of their factory! Anyway, although this doesn't take place in Colorado, the name was just too good to pass up, so this belongs in the bag as well!
Here are some notes I wrote on the plane while reading:
I liked the tone of this author's writing. She's a little bit sassy, a little tongue-in-cheek, and often funny, while still saying real things about friendship and relationships, too. When Kat's friend Charity asks her to take on a job, Kat thinks about how much she hates working for friends. Among other things, it's "messy." I thought about it as I drove home. It's things that make your heart twist that are worth doing, I guess.
At the beginning of Chapter 2, there's a Q&A to/from Charity, the advice columnist:
When Kat first meets Joe, who becomes a good friend:
Here's another I really liked, possibly because I feel this way sometimes too: I am always shooting for truth, beauty, love, and happiness, and coming up with stale popcorn, wormy apples, clichés and confounded hopes -- and they are not the stuff of which my dreams are made.
I really enjoyed this book, and especially because now I know how "our" KatColorado got her name!

Dear Charity -
Is anything worth fighting for?
-Doubtful
Dear Doubtful -
Yes, many things: children, friendship, the future. Sour cream fudge rum cake with pecans.

When Kat first meets Joe, who becomes a good friend:
"Thanks for making time for me."
He nodded. "A pleasure. Any friend of Tommy's is a friend of mine."
I love clichés. They make you feel so homey somehow. It's amazing how often writers use them, too, and they should know better.

Got this in my UnCon pack, which I just got through a serious of events. It's not really my type of book so I'll probably take it to the next meet-up, but thanks Ant for bringing it!
Well, since I forgot to journal on this book right away, I forgot just where and when I got it. Probably at a local meeting of the Charleston BCers. I have read and enjoyed this mystery quite some time ago, so I must have taken this copy for release at an OBCZ. Nice to see that it's been in such good company!
Earlier this month I placed this book in Erishkegal's Mystery with a Twistery book box. When I went to write a release note, I discovered that I had never written a journal entry on this copy of the book. Anyhow, it's straightened out now, and I hope that somewhere along the line someone will select this mystery and begin an acquaintance with Kat Colorado.
This is the 2nd Kat Colorado book I've read and I'll keep my eye out for more. It got a little scary at the end with some big risk-taking on Kat's part, but I'm glad she lived to tell the tale and continue with the series. Put back in the box to find another reader.
Wow~ what an adventure this book has been on! it may just have to sneak up the slope abit.....
I had no idea Celestial Seasonings is made in Colorado Lemon Zinger~~YUM and nothing like a cuppa Sleeytime when the eyelids need encouagement :)
CS is much better tea than Coors is beer!!

This book is enjoying a stay in Kentucky, as it traveled home to me via Nattabee's First BookBox. Thanks for participating!
Donated to charity because I moved and could not take all my books with me.
