Synopsis from Amazon.co.uk

Two young Americans, Will and Hand, decide to travel around the world in a week and give away a large sum of money in response to the untimely death of a friend. However, they find it is not only harder than expected to get around the world, but difficult to give away the money too.

I really enjoyed this book.
Although I have a couple of Eggers' McSweeney's collections (as Ed.) I hadn't read any of his stuff before and this was a good introduction (I hope!).

A bit post-post-modern for some tastes perhaps, nevertheless I found his writing very engaging.

Well this certainly was a different book! Thanks Caldron for starting this ring, unfortunately I couldn't get into it myself. I found the main character spending too much time in his head thinking crazy thoughts (yes at times funny) but it got a bit irritating after a while. I got to about page 180 and decided to pass it on. I hope the next person enjoys it more than me! I will send this tommorrow morning on my way to work. Thanks also Caldron for the 'freebies' sent with this book, I will keep one and pass the rest on, so as to share :)

Turned up in the mail today, thanks c-a-m! I've got a few books to read before this one, but should be able to start it relatively soon. Thanks for organising the ring, caldron!

Oh, I cannot believe I've held this ring up for so long! Please forgive me!

I have actually read it. Well, most of it. Well, half of it. I kept on picking it up, enjoying it, but craving something with decisive characters - I felt that maybe this book wasn't particularly going to go anywhere, and that made it less appealing to me. (Which is silly, given that I did enjoy it when I was reading it.)

Anyhow, after a very gentle reminder from caldron, it is time to pack this up and send it on its way to astro2480. I have her address already, so will pop this in the post tomorrow.

Different! I couldn't really get into it, did a bit of page skipping ... and finally skipped to the end to see what happened. Sorry ...

Off to bandm ... don't let me put you off it. I hope you enjoy it.
