This is one of Anne Rice's better books from before she thought every word she put to paper was art. It's technically the second in the series but the book stands alone very well.

The book is wonderful if you can ignore the portions where Lestat is an MTV rock god. It was great to see the events that shaped the sociopath we met in "Interview With a Vampire."
