Audre Lorde's memoir of her childhood and early adult life. The central themes concern her sexuality, her relationships with women, and how that effects her art. In some ways it reminds me a great deal of White Oleander - particularly in comparing these statements, which are thesis statements of sorts: White Oleander ~ "I would never reach the end of what was in those suitcases, those women, those men, what they meant to me." Zami ~ "Every woman I have ever loved has left her print upon me ..." Its an engaging read, and I highly recommend it if you are into LGBT or feminist Lit. I also recommend checking out Lorde's poetry.
