Very well written book. I became very invested in the heroine and was pleasantly surprised.

Absolutely loved this book. I knew little or nothing about the life of a geisha, and this gave a wonderful insight into their life. A charming story from beginning to end, finished off delightfully. Hard to believe it was written by a western man, as opposed to a woman from Japan. Would recommend it as a read to anyone.

Very readable story of the life of a Geisha before, during and after World War II. Her life and loves and how she copes and survives all that is thrown at her by life.
It possibly suffered a bit badly by my having read Geisha by Lisa Darby before reading it but it is an interesting account of the life and times of a Geisha.
Now to see the film.

A novel about the life of a geisha in Gion. It's a long time since I read it, so I can't think of much to say about it, but I enjoyed it greatly. If you want something more factual, I recommend Geisha by Liza Dalby. Or for a rather less romantic story, try Autobiography of a Geisha
