Amazingly prophetic, darkly satirical, filled with well-developed characters, structurally clever, and driven by two strong plotlines, this is well worth your time. Ends on a note of guarded and qualified optimism...I think world events between this book (1968) and Sheep Look Up (1972) depressed Brunner and made the second book significantly darker.
