Well Andrea, what can I say?
It's due to you that I joined BookCrossing! Hay - see - it's all your fault!
Anyway, you know I love it really.
Thankyou for all your help when I originally joined - I know I was a pest asking all sorts of stupid questions but you just answered them very politely (through gritted teeth I imagine)and made me very welcome.
Have a great life out in Portugal.

Andrea, I hope you already know that I think you're amazing, but I thought I'd set it down here, too.
All the best of luck in Portugal...I wish you long wanders on tourist-free beaches, plates piled high with gorgeous seafood, glassess of deep-red wine or any other beverage you fancy, plenty of books, good company and many new and old friends.
if ypu're anything like me, you'll get homesick or people-no-longer-around-you-sick sometimes. If that happens, you know we're only a dial-in away. and I'll pass the secret of my cheap international phonecall provider to anyone who cares to know, too, so if you want to be rung, you will [FYI, everybody, have a look at onetel.com - have used them for years].
i'll try and upload a suitably congratulatory picture min a minute, too - in case it works, it was taken at the lilly pond in my parent's garden, with frogs raising merry havoc in the background.

Hiya!

You were one of the first bookcrossers I met, and your instant friendliness gave me the courage to meet many more - so I will be eternally grateful! Your kindnesses are too many to mention, so I will simply say, thank you - and please don't forget us. I may not get out to Portugal, but I hope I get to see you any time you make a return visit here - and my door is always open to you, if you can face the Dragonets!
Much love,

Andrea you are, without a doubt, one of my favourite bookcrossing pals. You are an inspirational bookcrosser but more importantly you are thoughtful, supportive and kindhearted. We have never met each other but that is definitely an oversight on my part as I haven't really got involved in meet-ups but I know you have been to a few! Maybe we will meet in the future but as you were in the same county as me and I didn't manage it....? I will just say that someone who can invite a virtual stranger to visit them on the strength of a few emails and shared books is either mad or special, I prefer to think of you in the latter category. You will no doubt realise when you receive this tribute "book" that you have gained a lot of friends in bookcrossing - in addition to a lot of books! Ooh, I nearly forgot, thanks for introducing me to Sue Grafton and good luck with assembling your complete collection of these!

Have the most fantastic, wonderful, exciting and happy time in Portugal.

Andrea, it was lovely to meet you in London in Jan 04. I think it's wonderful that you are taking the plunge and uprooting to seek out a new challenge in a new country. I know it will be tough, but I know you'll make a damn good go of it!

All the very best and do pop into BC occasionally to let us know how you're doing.

Andrea - all the very best for your new life in Portugal! I was meant to send you a New Home card but then my (slightly less exotic) move happened...

Thank you for so many things ... advice ... chat at the meetups ... a box of books when my availables were getting low (how could that be!) which I had great fun releasing on bookaid day and around London ... and of course your releases in honour of my Birthday, even if one of them did get burned!

I'm sure you're going to have a brilliant time, cope with any challenges admirably, and build a lovely life in the countryside for you and your family.

All the best,

LyzzyBee and Matth3w (who knows you as apricot-BC-tshirt-girl but at least he remembers which one you are!)

Andrea/Kleptokitty, you were one of the very first BCers I met at the first Hampshire meet-up in Winchester. I remember persuading you to take The Life of Pi, but apparently you fell asleep twice before page 14. Ah well!

Best of luck on your return to Portugal and I hope everything works out well for you all. I will be back in France from mid-September where I am still trying to get the English speaking community to realise the joys of BookCrossing.

Now don't go and forget us will you - keep on releasing those books, let me know if you want a few boxes and I'll bring them over to you - any excuse for a meet eh? - and I bet CaffCaff would join me!

I admire you so much for having the courage and determination to follow your dreams, instead of letting them be just dreams, like the majority of us do.

Andrea,

Well, I hope all is going well with you in Portugal, and I hope the generator gets going enough so you can occasionally pop up here on the list as well as keeping your fridge going at the same time :-)

I will miss your chatting on the list, your cheery face at meets and of course your books - however I can't say the same for my DB, who does not really know who you are and that you are off to Portugal, but I sure he will be pleased that you have gone, so our spare room is no longer full of your rescued boxes of books!

Good luck with it all - and may our emails be popping up with journal entries from all those books you've kidnapped into the Bookcrossing world for many years to come!

Hopefully you'll be as active a bookcrosser in Portugal as you have been in England! If you can get as many people over there interested as you obviously have here, then we may have to borrow Steve's cloning machine to get you into every country in the world ;)
It was lovely to meet you at the UnConvention this summer, especially as I'd heard so much about you from other bookcrossers who know you!
Keep up the wonderfully good work, and enjoy your new adventure in Portugal :)

Hi Andrea & Co

I want to wish you all Good Luck with your new venture and your life together in Portugal. Thank you for all the books I've caught from you and all the fun I've had. I shall miss your company at the Reading and Chertsey meetings and on the journeys to and from them. When I found the first book I thought it was going to be a solitary occupation - reading the book and then releasing it again - but instead I've met you, and through you, lots of people - enjoying everyone's company and all the books I've read in the last eleven months. Thank you.

Have a happy life, happy reading and happy BookCrossing
Love
Eileen

Wow, Andrea I am so inspired that you have created this opportunity to go live a new life in a new country with Danny! What a marvellous challenge, good for you. I am sure you are both up for it! I do hope to hear about your adventures from time to time, and it would be lovely to see you again if you ever have a minute when passing through Scotland to visit rellies. Meanwhile it’s lovely to think of you settling into and being busy with your veggies and chickens in such a beautiful part of Portugal. Showers of good wishes!

Hello Andrea,

It is a pleasure for me to accept the invitation to write on this virtual book, although I admit I am a bit late (forgetful is maybe the word for it...)
I wish you all possible luck for your new mission in Portugal: It is true that I don't know you very well, but for what I could make out during the meetups when we chatted, I am sure that you have the right spirit for it. Actually, you remind me a bit of myself in a way, as I changed my life twice, hopping to a foreign country and going for the challenge without looking back. Surely you have more sense than I ever had, and thoroughly planned it all, and this is where we differ...you're no nutcase like me!
All the best for your new life and do not forget us on BCUK!

You are one of the amazing people that have made BCing SO special for me. We met at the Nottingham Meetup in March 2004 and your enthusiasm and fun-loving outlook shone through. I'm sorry that we won't be able to see you in person as often as we would all like but I hope you will stay in touch and let us know how life is treating you and yours in Portugal. I'm very jealous! Do you need any help? I'm a dab hand at tiling :o)

Take care and all best wishes

Journal Entry 46 by Moondreamer from Sandhurst, Berkshire United Kingdom on Monday, September 5, 2005
How come I managed to avoid a box of books from you?! Perhaps because you were too kind to foist them on the already-existing (book-ridden) chaos that is our home!

You were the first bcer I met 'in person' - it was the first Winchester meet in January 2004, we found out that we lived fairly close, and I offered a lift - you were brave enough to accept (*and* survived - so I'm not the Axe Murderer!) I survived too, so obviously you're not either!

That was one of the first meet-ups (I *think* it might even have been the first?) in our area - it's great to see how we're spoiled for choice now, and that's certainly partly due to your enthusiasm and book-releasing talents!

We still have the Spanish dictionary you were kind enough to drop in after I received the release alert and asked for more info so I could go out and catch it (MoonStrider was starting Spanish.)

And I especially remember you presenting me with an unofficial NSSFC 20004, because you thought I'd not signed up - you were right, and your kindness made my year!

I'm not surprised you're making a life in Portugal for yourself and Kleptokid (and I'm certain it will give you all you both wish) - I was more surprised that you returned at all from your holiday there!

Very best of luck to you and yours - hope we'll still see you sometimes.

The love and friendship of the BookCrossing community shines through the journal entries here, and I would be remiss not to add my own wishes.

England has far too much cold and grey about it for my taste. Lovely place, but blessed with a little too much weather. Portugal, where the sun shines every day, the rain may never fall till after sundown, by nine pm the moonlight must appear and summer lingers through September.

Summer in September! Imagine that!

My warmest and sunniest wishes for your new life!

Journal Entry 50 by Kleptokitty on Saturday, September 10, 2005
Wow! I'm really quite touched - and it's not sunstroke this time! This has been a total suprise, & I'm really quite speechless (which is something that doesn't happen often!). Thankyou Alison, and to all my other BookCrossing friends who've taken the time to write an entry here.

It's wonderful out here & we're getting along well. It's bloody hard going - we're getting up at 5.30am every day to fight with the bramble bushes from hell, we've still got no mains water & we're desperately short of cash. But it's compensated a hundredfold knowing that we're doing something we really want to do. There's only three other people in the village & if you sit outside you can hear nothing but the insects and the breeze. At night it's pitch dark with more stars than I ever imagined you'd see in one go.

I miss BCUK and all my BookCrossing friends though. I'm sure as we get more settled I'll be around a bit more on BCUK, but it's really so special to receive such warm thoughts from you all whilst I'm not. Thankyou, and come & see me soon!

Always keen to introduce Harlan Coben to a wider audience, this is now going to go out on a mini-Ring.

Currently with Chelseagirl,
then Akg,
then IoJima
then home please.

It might be a wee while until this sets off as Chelseagirl has her wedding imminent, so please be patient.

A little while ..... hmmm, does four and a half months count as a little while?

Anyway, I have finally got round to reading this and while I enjoyed it, it wasn't my favourite of Coben's books.

I'll be passing this on to akg as soon as I have her address.

Journal Entry 54 by akg from Didcot, Oxfordshire United Kingdom on Sunday, October 29, 2006
Picked this up from Chelseagirl today at a Cherry Tree mini meet.

I have only recently got discovered Harlan Coben and I don't know if it is best to read them in order. If it is, I only need to read one book before this one, and I'm sure I can borrow it from someone at work and then get this book moving again.

Are you sure you want to delete this item? It cannot be undone.
