Journal Entry 1 by Soraidh from St. Louis, Missouri USA on Tuesday, February 07, 2006
This sounds like such a great book. The premise is imaginative and creative, something new and fresh that hasn't been done 500 ways from Sunday. But I couldn't get into it. It's been languishing on my bedside table for nearly six months probably and I'm barely past chapter four. Of course I've been in a sort of reading-slump lately so that may have something to do with it. I'm going to keep it around and keep giving it a try since I like the idea of it. But if an offer for a trade comes along I'll probably take it. Description: The police call them The Violets. They have a special gift that is crime-fighting's secret weapon. Through their violet eyes, they can actually expose the face of a murderer. But now one killer is closing their violet eyes--permanetly--and even the FBI can't stop him.

Journal Entry 2 by Soraidh from St. Louis, Missouri USA on Sunday, February 26, 2006
Well I finished it, kinda. It really is an engaging and creative read. It must have been the reading slump because once I started going at it I really couldn't put it down. Until I hit one point and then I just had to stop. I'm not going to give anything away here but damn. I understand why it was done (okay, no I don't but I'll pretend) but I didn't see it coming and I couldn't read past it. Good thing I'm not one of those people that feel like they have to finish a book once they start it! I'm giving the book an 8 because it really is a better than average book. It isn't the book's fault that I couldn't get past something that happened in it.

I really enjoyed this. It's slightly unusual, a bit different to the standard serial murderer thriller. Isn't it frustrating when they won't listen to you? And I told them several times. I don't think I'd fancy the Violets' "gift".
