Journal Entry 1 by biba89 from Deventer, Overijssel Netherlands on Friday, July 29, 2005
I had begun reading this years ago and got stuck halfway. Today I finished it, I thought it was really good and just out of curiosity have begun rereading the first half again. Douglas Kennedy travels through the bible belt of America in pursuit of the reason behind the recent uplift of born-again Christians. He meets all kind of preachers, teachers, ministers, followers, scary people, loving people, wise and silly people. Mind you, I am being judgemental here, where Kennedy never is. I find this book very well written. Also I admire the position Kennedy managed to remain in: open, honest, curious.

This book goes to Rubyblue. We share, among other things, a taste for American travel books. We tend to have long discussions about religion. Now isn't this the perfect RABCK? I hope she likes it!
