When Fernando spots her in a Venice cafe and knows immediately that she is The One, Marlena de Blasi is caught off guard. A divorced American woman travelling through Italy, she thought she was satisfied with her life. Yet within a few months she quits her job as a chef, sells her house, kisses her two grown-up children goodbye and moves to Venice. Once there, she finds herself sitting in sugar-scented pasticcerie, renovating an apartment overlooking the seductive Adriatic Sea, and preparing to wed a virtual stranger in an ancient stone church.

Rec today from Camis.

Thanks, looking forward to reading this and the book that is travelling with this one.

I did enjoy this book, but I am not sure that I could have sold everything and moved to another country and then marry a virtual stranger.

Towards the end of the book I was irritated with Fernando. I found him to be selfish, especially when he gave up his job without any discussion with Marlena, who had actually sacrificed far more.

I'm just about to start A Thousand days in Tuscany, which I should finish this week, then will forward both books to Nocton4.

UPDATE

This book and its partner seem to be lost in action, I send them twice to Daemonwolf ... first time returned with a label saying " not collected " re-sent but have failed to arrive.

Luckily I have the proof of postage ( needs to go dig it out ) so will contact the P.O and see what needs to be done now.

Love Denise xx

This book appears to be lost so I am sending it to LostBookIsalnd where I hope it will be happy.

Journal Entry 12 by lostbookisland on Tuesday, March 13, 2007
This book has washed ashore at the Lost Book Island after not being heard from for many months. This new arrival will be shown to a room and be allowed a bit of rest before being introduced to the many fun things to do here at the island.

All around there are books sipping cool drinks under shady palms while other books participate in a wide variety of beach sports. There is plenty of sand, surf and sun here for all of the lost and wayward books to enjoy.

It is hoped that very soon a new journal entry will come to rescue this book from the island and send it back out into the BookCrossing world so that it may continue on its journey. It is hoped that the new journal entry will tell all the interested parties where this book has been this long time and where it will be traveling to next.
