This book is part of a bookring and is now on its way to Icila in France. Enjoy!
Received this morning. Thanks.
I didn't know much about New-Mexico. For me it's the best part of the book but if I go there some days I'll be in trouble with the spicy cooking. ;)
Pming iliotropio
12/06/07 : on its way to iliotropio
The book is now safe in my hands. Merci bien, Icila!
I'm taking it with me on a short trip to Greece to visit my family.
A captivating story which I enjoyed very much.
Thank you penelopewanders for offering this bookring!
This is one of the things which have made me a BX fan: one gets to read beautiful books that otherwise would never have crossed one's path!
Posted to Tashe this morning. Happy bookcrossing!

Tashe
arrived today! Thank you for sending and starting the ring.
I'll try to be quick.
Cheers
I was dreading the arrival of the book. I signed up for it so long ago that I couldn't remember what possessed me to take part in this ring. I probably did so because penelopewanders and I have a similar taste in books and that I needed some more substantial literary food.
What I got was the best book I read this year. Its quite tone of narration, the full characters that seem so real and descriptions that make you feel like you're there. I actually had goosbumps when - ah- a character showed up again unexpectedly. This was a very intense read for me.
Thank you, Sonia for letting me be part of the ring.
The next in line was already contacted and I'll mail the book to her tonight.
Save journey, book.

released via mail.
So, Isabel has arrived in Gauting..safe and sound.
Thanks for the ring and thanks for sending the book my way.
I just finished a book last night so this is perfect timing since I can start right away...
Well, yes, this story was really captivating...
first of all I haven't realized that it was written by J.Hendricks - I've just read her novel 'Bread alone' and liked it so much. So this was a nice surprise and I wasn't disappointed!
I was only slightly annoyed by Avery's attitude that she always thinks of herself as being alone/lonely/don't need one around.. but maybe this is normal when you grow up in a foster home..
but on the whole it made me looking forward to the sequel of Bread alone which is coming my way soon... hopefully
have contacted the next in line.. guess, the book will be on its way on Monday!

RELEASE NOTES:
The book went on its way to France today!
Happy Travelling....
Received with thanks! I will read this asap.
A wonderful story by an author I have never read before. I found this very hard to put down! Thanks for including me in the bookring, I have pmed WelshHelen for her address.
Arrived on Saturday - thanks, Mallary. I seem to be a collection point for ring books at the moment! I'm really looking forward to this one, though, so I should get to it fairly soon :-)
Like Mallary, I'd never read a Hendricks book before (I'm ashamed to say that I'd never heard of her!) but I'm really hoping that this won't be my last and Bread Alone will be going onto my wishlist :-)
I love her writing style and she brought the charcaters to life so well, especially (for me) Cassie and Will. iliotropio used the word 'captivating' and that's such a wonderful way of describing this book - the New Mexico locations, the food, the clothes, everything was so vividly drawn that I felt a real part of the book. Wonder if there'll be a sequel...
Thank you so much for organising the ring, penelopewanders - another hit :-) I've requested lucy-lemon's address and will get the book in the post asap.
Finally posted on to lucy-lemon today - many apologies for the delay.
This arrived a while ago, but because I've had so much uni work I've kept all the book shaped parcels in a pile in my room! Work (and uni) is all over now, so I can just read and read and read. I've actually already finished this, and enjoyed it a lot! I didn't really know what to expect as I'd never heard of the author before, but I was pleasantly surprised. It definitely was a relief to read after the medieval stuff I've been reading for uni :-)
Arrived in the post this morning. Thanks Lucy.
Will read asap.
I wasn't expecting this book to be so good. I think this was mainly due to the fact that I'd never heard of Judith Hendricks. It turned out to be one of the best books I've read this year.
Thank you for sharing penelopewanders.
Posted off to Bestfriends this morning.
In my mailbox already this morning. That was quick! I'm looking forward to reading this. Next up after my current read.
Thanks Kerriou for the Kool Cats bookmark. It's so cute!
I finished reading today and quite enjoyed it. I liked the New Mexico setting and loved Avery as a character, but I found the story itself a bit implausible. A nice entertaining summer read though.
Will be sent to fritzykatz soon. I already have her address.

Fun to read; I'll send it off to next in line!
This book is on its way to Brujula!
found with my mail as I came home from vacations.
It's funny, the envelope had been opened with scissors, and then placed in a sealed plastic bag by the deutsch post. They probably checked it was a book in the envelope!
Thank you for sending it!
I've really loved this beautiful story.
The description of the places, the art, the characters, make you feel in the story. I even dreamt about it last night!
Thank you so much for sharing!

book already sent! forgot to set the new status! sorry!!!!
Arrived on its last stop (for now) on a very long journey! I've got a couple of ring books ahead of this one, but I'm looking forward to this, so I'll make sure I get to it quickly.
Thanks very much.
Sometimes I read a book in which the location is so vividly portrayed that I want to go there - well, this is one such book. New Mexico has never appeared on my list of 'must visit' places, but that's all changed now. New Mexico is itself a character in the story, almost as important as Avery. That is a real tribute to Judith Hendricks's writing - she has a real way with words which brings the scene vividly to life.
My only criticism was that as the book went on, I began to lose patience with Avery and was angered by her attitude to people, particularly her best friend Rita and the callius way she abandoned Will.
I took Bread Alone from a bookbox about a year ago, but never got around to reading it. But after reading Isabel's Daughter, I think that will be my next book.
Thanks for sharing, penelopewanders, it's now on its way back to you.
Home again, home again safely! What a long happy journey this book has made! I think I'll read it again soon, and look into lending it closer to home. Thank you everyone for reading, sharing your thoughts and sending it on.

Here are the various entries I've made in goodreads over the years:
I read this book several years ago, in January 2004 and enjoyed it so much that I have now made it into a ring which is travelling around the world.
Feb 2009 Am now rereading it for possible use with a class. This is still a terrific book, although I don't think the young man in my class will appreciate it so much and it would be the third book with a female main character ...I would definitely do with this with another group at some point.
October 2014... Still haven't used it with a class, but decided to order a copy to give as a birthday present to one of my students. As I hadn't read it in many years, I'm now re-reading to see if it is a good idea or not.
I've enjoyed this story - both the tale and the writing - yet again. I do worry this might be a bit difficult for a non-native English speaker. We'll see. Finished it on October 3.
