From the back of the book:

A Soaring epic of America's heartland by the only writer who could tell it so magnificently -- Janet Dailey!

The great Calder Empire stretched across the Montana plains as far as the eye could see. Everyone knew a Calder's word was law, and that one day Chase Calder would take the reins of power and carry the name to new glories.

But for handsome, arrogant Chase Calder there was also beautiful, headstrong Maggie O'Rourke, who came to him in innocence and awoke in him a deep, insistent longing. But Maggie was determined to be free from the harsh codes of hard men. And even Chase Calder's strong arms couldn't keep her.

Still, in them both burned the raw passion of the land. . . where the old codes die hard, and even the greates love must fight to live beneath. . .

So. . . .I read this series in the summer, when I was laying out in the sun on a regular basis. They're perfect "beach" reading, but also good for the winter that is fast approaching! The problem is that I'm trying to remember any specifics I wanted to write about.

I realize it's a classic tool of this type of book to deflower a virgin, but wow! It was early in this book, and just a little bit disturbing. After that, the book became pretty interesting. I like that it's in Montana -- I've lived there, and there was a lot of what would be considered "cinematography" in a movie. This is more than just a romance novel, but I don't know exactly how else to describe it!

Maggie's brother concerns me. . .

I'm putting together a fun-pack for a friend who I *think* will like these :) She's in Kansas, and may enjoy their "montana-ness" as much as I did from Colorado :)

I would actually really like to visit Montana, so I'll consider this research! LOL!! Sounds like you really enjoyed this series, so I'm looking forward to it! Thanks so much for thinking of me! It's been such a stressful time at work lately, and with being sick for about 3 weeks now, this was a nice little surprise to come home to! :)
