Picked this up from the post office today (it actually arrived yesterday but I wasn't home when the courier arrived so I had to go and pick it up).
Anyway, thanks for sending it zzfriend, I will start it as soon as I finish Harry Potter 6 -shouldn't be long!

About the ancient ferret alphabet (Ferrune) symbols: the fable that opens each book of the series is written in Ferrune, then on the following pages in the English alphabet, sort of a ferret Rosetta Stone. So if a reader's really interested, she can translate the runic symbols. That's the only way (except in the fifth book of the series (which will be the first in _Curious Lives,_ the collection in one volume), to translate the phrase on the dedication page.

First of all can I say that I am hopeless at writing reviews so don't expect an in-depth journal entry!
An enjoyable and sometimes exciting animal fable - I think it is the kind of book my children would have enjoyed to have read aloud to them when they were younger.
Thanks for translation of the runic symbols -ferrets are very wise beasts I see.
Incidentally ferrets were imported to NZ to help control our rabbit population in the 19th C and are now helping to decimate our native birds so they aren't the most popular animal around here, sorry!
I have Otakuu's address and will get it posted to her today with luck.

9 out of 10

Received as part of ZZfriends International Bookring No1 from Boreal.

A very pleasant read indeed. I am going to let Master 9 read it to get his point of view before forwarding to Lyttletonwitch.

I agree with boreals remarks about the damage ferrets have done to the native bird population here but the ferrets in this book are a creature of another calibre altogether.

There are layers of meaning within this book that should mean that parents and children can read it together with each taking what is relevant to them.
I liked the 'contemporary' feel provided by Chloe and the little touches like the scarves.

Thanks to boreal for her promptness in passing it on. Received today and read whilst travelling.

Master 9 has asked that I buy a copy, so a resounding success with him too.

Given to Lyttletonwitch at a most delightful, leisurely lunch on a pleasant Christchurch spring day

First things first, i'm really, really sorry for keeping this book with me, i actually never thought it would take me this much to keep it going, so please forgive me and i'll pm the next reader right now.

Now, about the book, thanks so much for sharing Zzfriend, this is not the kinda book i'm used to reading but i really did enjoy it. I think is a great book for childen for it has very meaningful messages such as the need of courage to survive and the value of friendship.

Hope this book keeps traveling and delighting others as well with this fun adventure of the rescue team =)

Thanks, I got this book already yesterday. I have a high pile of ring books to read right now and that means that I should read all of them about within one month (mission impossible!). But this seem so quick read that maybe I´ll just take this book one day and read it... :)

Wow. This is exciting. I've been looking forward to this book for a long time, and now that I have it here, it's nicer even than I anticipated. I wasn't expecting a hardcover, nor something quite this size; I find it rather a reassuring book, it feels solid in a way.
I've only just started Summerland by Michael Chabon, which is quite big, but the Rescue Ferrets will be next in line.
Thank you, everybody, for this ring, and for getting this book to me safely. It's in excellent condition, too -- only the postcards to prove it's travelled so far. :)

Not quite what I had expected, but certainly a heartwarming and generally comforting book. I was surprised at quite how simple and straightforward the plot was, and, almost to the same degree, the storytelling. But then the truth often is simple, and the most beautiful and comforting things are, too.
There seem to be German translations only of three of the volumes, so I will most likely end up chasing after the separate English titles (which of course means I won't be at the mercy of a translator, but will also be a lot less convenient than just grabbing the condensed "Curious Lives". :))

Just a quick note to say I've now released a copy of this book in German, and am much looking forward to see what other people will think of Bethany's story.
